Victim knew armed robbers from incident Friday

Greensburg, IN – Friday evening, Greensburg Police Department officers and Decatur County Sheriff Department deputies were dispatched to Colonial Manor off of Davidson Street in reference to a robbery involving a firearm.

The initial report from a female caller was that three males broke into an apartment and took an item. While in the apartment, the caller alleges that one of the males brandished a firearm before fleeing.

When the officers arrived on the scene, a Decatur County Sheriff’s Deputy and a Greensburg Officer were able to locate and detain one male running from the apartments. The officers allege this suspect had a firearm, which officers located during the search of the area.

Other responding officers were advised by members of the public that a vehicle had pulled into a housing addition and two males fled from the vehicle. Officers from both departments set a perimeter and Greensburg K-9 Officer Mitch Tuttle and K-9 Hercules were called to the scene to begin a track. During this search, officers were able to locate another male hiding in a pine tree in the area, and he was taken into custody. Officer Tuttle and Hercules then continued their search, in which the third male was located hiding under a residence’s back porch.

At this time, this case is still an active investigation and not all details can be released but Chief Brendan Bridges stated that the female caller knew the alleged robbers and this was not a random crime. During the investigation, four individuals were arrested and transported to the Decatur County Jail.
