Batesville, In. — One of the longest serving members of the Batesville Memorial Public Library has announced his retirement. Mike Kruse will step down February 1, 2018.
Kruse began his service in 1993 and became a director in 1995. Kruse said, “I have worked with some amazing and dedicated Library Trustees over the years, and with a top-notch staff. Together, we have seen and adapted to many changes in the community in general and the library in particular.”
Library board president Mark Stenger said, “Replacing Mike will be no easy task. He has meant so much to our community and to the institution that you don’t find people as dedicated as Mike just anywhere. Regardless, the Trustees thank Mike for his many years of service and congratulate him on a great career.” In his announcement, Kruse stated that he and his family intend to stay in Batesville and he looks forward to transitioning to life as a library patron. The search by the Board of Trustees for a new director will begin immediately.
