Versailles Ivy Tech student accused of identity theft

Madison, In. — A Versailles woman and Ivy Tech student is behind bars accused of stealing the personal information of other Ivy Tech Community College-Madison students after an Indiana State Police investigation. Bioncia N. Mitchell, 20, was arrested at her Michael Street apartment and taken to the Jefferson County Jail without incident Wednesday. She is being held pending her first court appearance.

School officials became suspicious on September 11, 2017 when they discovered more than $7,000 of merchandise had been purchased from the Ivy Tech online store  using the information of different students and shipped under different names to Mitchell’s Michael Street address. Ivy Tech officials were able to block and refund nearly all of the purchases.

She has been charged with theft, identity deception and fraud.
