Verneda Wendelman

          Verneda Wendelman, 85, of Dillsboro passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at Ripley Crossing in Milan.  Verneda was born Wednesday, July 18, 1934 in Pierceville, Indiana, the daughter of the late Clarence and Edna (Lafary) Cook.  She married Dale Wendelman and he preceded her in death on December 24, 2011.  Verneda was a member of the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Dillsboro.  She worked for the South Dearborn School Corporation as an office assistant and a bus driver, she was also a member of the Dillsboro Civic Club.  She enjoyed being with her family, crocheting, loved the outdoors, her flowers, mowing, and running the sound system for the county fairs and festivals.  Dale and Verneda had a spectacular Christmas light display with over 33,000+ lights at their home for the community to enjoy for many years.

Verneda is survived by her daughter Kimberly (John) Ascherman of Aurora; grandchildren Kyle and Hannah Ascherman; sisters Mary Bultman of Napoleon and Marie (Harold) Shelp of Milan.  She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Edna.
