Use caution during bonfire season

Statewide—While fall bonfires and s’ mores make great memories, we want to remind Hoosiers that due to a lack of rainfall throughout much of Indiana many counties are abnormally dry. Having a bonfire can become a potential hazard due to these dry conditions.

If your county is under a burn ban, please adhere to the local laws governing your county. If you are not under a burn ban, you should continue to exercise caution while open burning and ensure you have a fire extinguisher or garden hose available to extinguish any fire quickly before it gets out of hand.
