(Batesville, IN) – At least one person was killed in a semi crash on westbound I-74 near Batesville this (Tuesday) morning.
The tractor-trailer slammed into the Huntersville Road overpass, which was closed briefly during an inspection of the bridge pillars.
The westbound lanes were shut down for several hours during the cleanup, with traffic diverted onto State Road 46. Motorists were allowed back on the highway at New Point.
Information on what caused the crash or who was killed had not been released as of late Tuesday morning.

(Batesville, IN) – A deadly single-vehicle crash involving a semi has closed westbound I-74 at the Batesville/Oldenburg (State Road 229) exit.
The accident was reported shortly after 4 a.m. Tuesday.
Police are redirecting traffic onto State Road 46, and drivers can get back on to westbound 74 at New Point.
The semi involved in the deadly wreck struck the Huntersville Road overpass, which was closed for a while this morning but has since reopened.
The westbound lanes of the highway are expected to be shut down for several hours during the police investigation and cleanup.
Responding agencies include Indiana State Police, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Batesville Fire & Rescue, and the Franklin County Coroner.
