(Greensburg, IN) – A Greensburg man had to be flown to the hospital and another driver who was allegedly fleeing police was also injured in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Nightengale Drive and Barachel Lane Tuesday night.

Greensburg Police say the crash happened after an officer responded to an incident in the parking lot of the Walmart in the Greensburg Commons Shopping Center.

When the officer arrived, a man later identified as Chane Rager got in his truck and fled toward Nightengale Drive.

The officer lost sight of the truck but saw it go south onto Nightengale.

That’s where the officer came upon the two-vehicle wreck, which he did not witness.

Rager and John Brooks of Greensburg were taken to IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

Brooks had to be flown from the scene by Stat Flight medical helicopter.

Greensburg Police say the truck driven by Rager was stolen from Nebraska, and that he had active non-extraditable warrants in that state for Theft.

The wreck is still under investigation by the Greensburg Police Department and the Indiana State Police Crash Reconstruction Team.

In addition to GPD and ISP, responding agencies included the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office, the Greensburg Fire Department, Decatur County EMS, and Sweets Towing Service
