Patriot, IN — Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating an incident in which a Patriot man was rescued from Goose Creek in Switzerland County after he fell off a capsized personal watercraft.

Responders were dispatched around 2:26 Sunday afternoon to the Patriot boat ramp for a person who went underwater and never resurfaced.

The initial investigation indicates that 20-year-old Nathaniel Robert Joseph Lee Willman was operating the watercraft that capsized while another passenger attempted to board it.

Willman was pulled from seven feet of water by a Jeff-Craig Fire and Rescue diver after he had been submerged for almost an hour.

He was flown to UC Medical Center in serious condition.

The incident remains under investigation.

Indiana Conservation Officers received assistance at the scene from the Switzerland County Sheriff’s Office, Switzerland County Emergency Response, and the Posey Township Volunteer Fire Department.
