UPDATE: One Hurt in Greensburg Collision

(Greensburg, IN) – A Greensburg man was hospitalized following a collision involving a car and an E-bike at the intersection of State Road 3 and Lincoln Street around 5:45 last Thursday evening.

An off-duty Greensburg police officer reported the accident to Decatur County Communications.

Greensburg Police say the car’s driver, 42-year-old Branden Garrison of Greensburg and several witnesses told investigators his vehicle was southbound on State Road 3 and had the green light through the intersection when an e-bike operated by 58-year-old Bernard Haskamp crossed into traffic.

Investigators say Haskamp struck the side of Garrison’s car while it was attempting to stop and avoid the collision.

Haskamp was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was transported to Decatur County Memorial Hospital, and later taken by Life Flight to Methodist Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

His condition is not known.

The Greensburg Police Department is reminding drivers to use caution when approaching and passing through intersections.

Bicycle riders are reminded to follow the rules of the roads when operating on a public roadway.

GPD received assistance from Decatur County Communications, the Greensburg Fire Department, Decatur County EMS, Decatur County Sheriff’s Office, Lifeline, and Platinum Wrecker Service.
