UPDATE: One dead, one missing after cabin swept into Franklin County creek

(Franklin County, IN)  – The identities of the two individuals that were swept away by high waters while staying in a cabin along Wolf Creek have been released by Indiana Conservation Officers.

49-year-old Hardy Harris Jr. was the body removed from the water on July 29.

The missing individual is 53-year-old Virginia Marie Pennington.

Searches for Pennington are still going on and have extended beyond the initial search area. The new area includes the location where Wolf Creek meets the Whitewater River.

(Franklin County, IN) – A man is dead and a woman is missing after a cabin was swept into Wolf Creek in Franklin County, according to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

Friday at 12 PM, first responders received a report that the two individuals staying in the cabin were missing, and the cabin washed away in high water.

Responders found one individual downstream of the cabin’s original location at 1:30 PM. The individual was pronounced dead on the scene.

Search efforts for the second individual continued through Friday evening but were suspended due to dangerous conditions. Search efforts resumed Saturday.

The names of the individuals have not been shared yet.
