Unemployment rates go up across area

SOUTHEASTERN IN — All four area counties saw an increase in unemployment last month.

According to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, Decatur County had the lowest jobless rate in Southeastern Indiana in June at 2.6%, which was up from 2.2% the month before.

Also going from 2.2% in May were Franklin County, which checked in last month at 2.7%, and Dearborn County, which was at 2.8%.

Ripley County had the highest unemployment rate in the area in June at 2.9%, which was up from 2.3% the month before.

All four counties were above the state average of 2.4%.
