Area unemployment drops sharply in December

(Southeastern IN) – All four area counties saw a sharp drop in unemployment in December.

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development says Decatur County was at 2.3 percent, which is down from 2.8 percent in November.

Franklin County fell to 2.5 percent, compared to 3.2.

Dearborn County checked in at 2.7 percent, which was a dip from 3.3 in November.

Ripley County was at 3.1 percent, down from 3.6 the prior month.

All four counties were below the state average of 3.6 percent.
