(Versailles/Milan, IN) – Two new Safe Haven Baby Boxes were dedicated in Ripley County over the weekend.

Blessing ceremonies were held Saturday at Ripley County EMS headquarters on West Hopewell Road in Versailles and at the life squad’s Milan station on Maple Street.

State Rep. Randy Frye – who authored the Baby Box Law two years ago – emceed both events which featured remarks by State Senator Jean Leising, Ripley County EMS members, and representatives of the Madison Mission, as well as a Blessing and demonstrations of the devices (pictured).

The baby box allows a mother in crisis to anonymously and securely give up her newborn without fear of arrest or prosecution.

With the devices going online in Versailles and Milan, that brings the number to 102 in Indiana and 151 nationwide.
