Two killed, including a conservation officer in Madison County ice fishing mishap

Madison County, In. — Two people, including one Indiana Conservation officer, have been killed in an ice fishing accident in Madison County.

A search at Camp Kikthawenud began Tuesday afternoon after a family member of an ice fisherman became concerned when he did not come home.

Officials with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources and first responders found the officer’s vehicle in an ice-covered pond with a hole in it. After deploying a drone both bodies were recovered.

No names have been released. The investigation is ongoing.
