
(Dearborn County, IN) – Two men from Dearborn County were flown to the hospital following a head-on crash that happened on State Road 350 near Shawnee Drive in the Aurora area around 11:22 p.m. on Monday night.
The Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office says the preliminary investigation revealed a car driven by 56-year-old Robert Tingle of Aurora was traveling east on State Road 350 when it crossed the center line and collided with a vehicle driven by 45-year-old Gary Smith of Moores Hill.
Both Tingle and Smith were airlifted to UC Medical Center.
The sheriff’s office says preliminary findings indicate that alcohol and/or drugs may have been a contributing factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Aurora Police Department, Indiana State Police, the Aurora and Hogan Township fire departments, and EMS units from Aurora, Lawrenceburg, Moores Hill, and Manchester.
