The 2nd ranked OA Twisters traveled to South Dearborn High School for a round-robin along with Southwestern-Shelbyville and South Dearborn.

In-game 1, the Twisters started slowly as they scored 1 in the first but allowed the Spartans to score 2 in their frame. From then on, it was all OA; the Twisters would pour it on with 3 in the 2nd, 8 in the 3rd, 3 in the 4th, and finally 4 in the 5th to win 19-3.

On the mound, the Twisters were led by Sr. Chris Hautman who pitched the complete 5 game inning, giving up 3 hits, 3 runs (2 earned), striking out 8, and walking just 1.

“It’s always good to start the day off with a win, it also helped that Chris was effective and efficient in this first game to help us save some pitching for the 2nd game.” Coach Behlmer said after the game.

In the Twisters second game of the weekend round-robin, they faced the home team, the South Dearborn Knights losing 5-4.

The Twisters found themselves in a different game, compared to the first game of the day. Runs came at a premium for both teams. South Dearborn started the scoring at the bottom of the 1st. However, the Twisters came right back and scored 2 in the 2nd. South Dearborn would add 2 themselves to make it a 3-2 ball game. It would remain that way until the 5th when the Knights were able to push a run across to make it a 4-2 game.

The Twisters were able to take advantage of some inconsistent pitching by the Knights. The Knights walked 2 Twisters which 1 of them scored to cut it down in the 6th and then a wild pitch allowed the Twisters to score the tying run. The Knights got the last word, as they hit a single which drove in the game-winning run.

Sr. Andrew Oesterling started and went 4 innings, giving up 3 runs (2 earned), walking 1 and striking out 4. Soph. Charlie Schebler suffered the loss. He pitched 3 1/3 innings, giving up 2 runs (1 earned), walking none, and striking out 5.

“We played a very good South Dearborn team today, but I think our overall package was excellent in both games today. There are some minor things we need to sure up to reach our ultimate goal, but we are still on the right path.” Coach Behlmer said after the game.

The Twisters currently sit at 6-2 and will travel to Greenwood Christian Academy on Tuesday, April 20th for a 5:00 start.
