Twisters Baseball Results

The Oldenburg Academy had a change of opponent on Tuesday, April 13th. Originally, the Twisters were set to travel to South Ripley. Due to the rain over the weekend, the Raiders had to make up a conference game, so the Twisters traveled to South Decatur to take on the Cougars. The Twisters won 8-0.

The Twisters started the game off with a bang, as sr. Andrew Oesterling took the very first pitch of the game and sent it over the right-field fence for a solo home run. Later in the game, sophomore Charlie Schebler hit his first high school home run over the right-center fence giving the Twisters a 4-0 lead. The Twisters would add 4 more.

“It’s nice to get back on the winning side of a game. Andrew (Oesterling) and (Chris) Hautman did a great job of pitching on the mound and setting the tone.” Coach Behlmer said.

The Twisters improve to 4-1 on the season and will be hosting Cambridge City Lincoln on Wednesday, April 14th at Liberty Park in Batesville. The first pitch is scheduled for 5:30 PM.

The Oldenburg Academy baseball team traveled to Rising Sun for their first game under the lights on Friday, April 9th. Unfortunately, Rising Sun’s baseball luck was on their side as they beat the Twisters 9-4.

The Twisters started the scoring off with 3 in the 1st, but Rising Sun quickly erased that deficit and took the lead all in the second inning. On the mound, the Twisters started sr. Riley Schebler (0-1) who went 2 innings, gave up 7 runs (6 earned), walking 1 and striking out 3. He was relieved by his brother, soph. Charlie Schebler, who went 4 innings, giving up 3 runs (all earned), on 7 hits, striking out 6 and walking 1.

“You have to tip your hat to Rising Sun. They had hits that squeaked through or landed where we weren’t. For us, our pitching just wasn’t there; offensively, we hit a lot of balls hard….just right at them”. Coach Doug Behlmer said after the game.

The Twisters look to avenge this loss and take on the Eagles of Jac-Cen-Del for a doubleheader on Saturday, April 10th. The first pitch is at 11:00 AM.
