The North Decatur Girls Golf team competed at North Branch (Bridge) against Morristown in the first home match of the season. The Chargers came out victorious with a team total of 243-257. Katy Kinker was the match medalist with a score of 52.
The team also celebrated the 4 seniors: Katy Kinker, Laronda Schwartz, Kenda Sieg, and Rilie Sieg. Kenda and Rilie each shot their personal best of 65 and 64 respectively.

The 7th Grade Batesville Middle School Volleyball team notched their first win of the season by defeating a talented South Ripley squad. Much improvement was displayed in the areas of serving, teamwork, and hustle among all players. Scores were Batesville 25-18; 18-25; 15-7.
Reesa Zimmerman scored 8 points including 3 aces while connecting on 12 of 14 serves. Grace Walter contributed 6 service points including 3 aces from the service line to help the team. Walter was also strong at the net with a match-high 8 kills in 13 swings. Zimmerman contributed 4 kills in 7 attempts to spark the offense. Jade Martin, Ashlee Sparks, and Anya Richey turned in solid performances in the back row with scrappy defense in pivotal points of the game. Addison Luers dished out 10 assists from her setting position demonstrating good judgment throughout the match. The team’s record improves to 1-2.
The girls will head to Greendale on Thursday and hope to keep the momentum going. Great job, ladies!

The BMS 8th Grade Volleyball team suffered their first loss of the season to South Ripley: 25-24, 25-22.
It was a tight match and the team never gave up. Earning top server was Molly Meer with 7 points. Annie Negovetich added 6 points. Eva Struewing & Ava Powner each earned 4 points. Sophie Gesell added 5 kills from the front row. Molly Meer earned 3 kills. While Ava Powner & Annie Negovetch each had 2 kills. Lydia Haskamp had a stuff block.

The North Decatur Lady Chargers 7th grade Volleyball team came from behind to win the game, after losing the 1st match to the St Louis Cardinals 12-25, 25-23, 15-9. They rallied in the 2nd and 3rd match with better serving and communication. The leading server was Joe Whitaker with 6 pts, next was Annie Waechter and Libby Crawford both with 5 pts each.

North Decatur Girls 8th Grade Volleyball beat St. Louis 25-13, 25-6.

The St. Louis Lady Cardinals hosted the North Decatur Chargers for our first home games.
Our 7th grade game went into 3 sets leaving us a bit short for the win. Playing a solid first game with a final score of 25-12, but falling short the next two with scores of 25-23, and 15-9. Getting SLS points were Gina Grote with 10pts 4 aces, Campbell Miles with 6pts 1 ace, Ella King with 5pts 2 aces, Ava Hollins with 4pts, Bridget Lohmueller with 2pts, and Olivia Leising with 1pt. Nice job ladies.
The 8th grade games we fell short in the first two sets. Final scores were 25-13 and 25-6. Scoring points for SLS were Rachel Suttmann with 4pts 2 aces, Ashley Hunter with 2pts 1 ace, Felicity Brelage with 2pts, and both Meg Ritter and Cora Roth bringing 1pt each. North had a really good serving team that was able to place the ball on our court. We kept making adjustments, but in the end it wasn’t enough. Keep working hard ladies the improvements are being made.

The Batesville JV Football team beat Jennings County Panthers Monday night 14 -12. The Bulldogs started the game off with a long drive that ended with a 1 yard touchdown run by Evan Williamson. Jennings County scored shortly before halftime to make the score 6 -6 at the break.
Jennings Co. scored first in the second half to take a 12 – 6 lead but was stopped on the 2 point conversion by a Carter Bohman interception. Batesville tied the score on a great one handed 30 yard TD catch by Jonathan Buschle from QB Chris Lewis. Deacon Hamilton ran in the two point conversion to give the Bulldogs the lead.
The Panthers last drive of the night ended with a Buschle interception and the Bulldogs took a knee to run out the clock.

The Batesville High School girls’ volleyball team traveled to Franklin County on Tuesday to take on the Wildcats. The reserve team lost in two games, 25-16 and 25-18. Belle Westerfeld went 11 for 11 in serving with two of those serves being aces. Maggie Wilson led the team in serve-receive.
The varsity team won in three sets. 25-17, 25-18, and 25-12.
The next game will be on Thursday, August 27 at East Central High School.
