Harrison County, In. — An Indiana State Police trooper went above and beyond the call of duty to help a young mother and her newborn baby this week.
Investigators say Kaitlyn Wood, 19, of Seymour, was westbound on I-64 when she hydroplaned and drove off the roadway. Wood and her newborn baby were transported to a local hospital as a precautionary measure.
In order to save the young mother a tow bill that could have been $200, trooper George Wooten drove Wood’s car to the hospital.
Wood and her baby were treated and released, then left in her car parked outside the hospital.
