SUNMAN, IN — The Town of Sunman is urging residents and others not to blow grass clippings into the street.

In a social media post, town leaders say grass clippings in the street ultimately end up in storm drains, which can clog and lead to street and private property flooding.

Officials say it’s also a violation of the town code to blow grass clippings and other waste into the street.

And it’s a safety hazard.

Clippings blown into the street can cause a slippery and dangerous surface for motorcyclists and bicycle riders.

Sunman officials say – when finished mowing – use a blower, broom, or rake to clean up any grass clippings or debris that have inadvertently made their way onto the sidewalk or into the street, or storm drain.
