Tonia Lea Caddell

On Wednesday, December 14, 2022, Tonia Lea Caddell, age 56, passed peacefully into God’s arms after a short illness, following a kidney transplant. Everyone who knew Tonia loved her, and Tonia loved everyone right back. She was loud, funny, protective, ornery, and a lover of life as a FAITHFUL follower of Jesus Christ. She could sing and hum Gospel songs all day long. Tonia’s family was everything to her, including her two small dogs, Lloyd and Lucy. Most of the family thought Lloyd and Lucy to be the worst behaved dogs on the planet but to Tonia they were the most precious, sweet, and furry family members in the world. Lloyd, who was blind and diabetic, will join Tonia in heaven, nestled in her arms.

Tonia was NaNa to every child in the family. She had no children of her own, so she adopted everyone’s child and loved each of them without condition. None were loved more so than her beautiful grandniece, Mia McCarey, daughter of Teresa Moran. Tonia and Mia lived together in Florida at the time of her passing; were connected at the hip; and each other’s best friend and closest family member.

Tonia loved Halloween (her birthday) and was convinced the holiday was made especially for her. She was a city girl who always kept the country girl in her heart, never losing sight of her love of cows (calendar on wall); riding on a tractor with her daddy, and fishing in simple ponds. Tonia was good natured but protective of anyone she loved. She could love and fight at the drop of her wig. (hair loss due to kidney issues). Tonia was a character like no one else in our family. In so many ways she WAS our family. Everything we are, and everything we hope to be.

Tonia was a Buckeye by birth and for most of her life, a Hoosier as a child. She moved to the Sunshine State in 2019, in search of a kidney transplant, and her dream to live out her days in sunshine. She loved her job as a Medical Practice Manager at Emergency Physicians of St. Petersburg. She will be missed in this life, and is now reunited with her sister (Teresa), mom (Wilma) , and dad (Lloyd) in Heaven.

Tonia will be missed by her loving brothers, Terry Caddell (St. Petersburg, Florida) and Tracy Caddell and his wife, Teresa (Fishers, Indiana). Her nieces and nephews, Terry Caddell II and wife Charmaine (Boston, Massachusetts); Tara Allred (Muncie, Indiana), Tiffanie Hobbs and her husband John (Indianapolis, Indiana), Teresa Moran, and husband Ben ( Cincinnati, Ohio); Amy Caddell and her wife Lyndey (Atlanta, Georgia), Cameron Caddell and his fiancée Elizabeth Bredwell, (Orlando, Florida) as well numerous great nieces and great nephews, and other relatives and friends, with special gratitude to friends Kate Schultz and Colleen Sheridan who spent every day at the hospital praying, and watching over Tonia until her passing.
