BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, IN — A sad end to the case of a missing two-year-old girl near Columbus.

The body of Emma Sweet was pulled from the White River in Bartholomew County Sunday afternoon.

The toddler had been missing since Wednesday when her father Jeremy reportedly drove into the river.

He was found by hunters but Emma was missing.

Investigators say her body was found three miles downriver from her father’s truck.

Authorities say Jeremy Sweet told conflicting stories about how his truck ended up in the river.

He was taken to the hospital and is listed in critical condition.

Jeremy Sweet has been placed on a 72-hour hold without bond, and when he is discharged from the hospital, he will be housed in the Bartholomew County Jail while authorities investigate.
