Three arrested after report of shots fired

Columbus, IN—Three suspects were arrested on several charges after officers received a report of shots fired at a Columbus apartment complex early Thursday morning and later recovered a large amount of drugs and currency.  At approximately 1:10 a.m., CPD officers responded to an apartment in the 2400 block of Charleston Place in regards to a shots fired call.

The arriving officers observed several bullet holes in two nearby apartments and requested additional law enforcement resources to respond.

The officers began evacuating residents from the apartment building and contact was eventually made with Papa M. Sylla, 24, a resident of one of the apartments that had been shot into.  Sylla advised that he had been inside his apartment with Alhadj Diaw, 25, of Columbus as well as Kedisha Brown, 21, of Columbus when several men wearing ski masks attempted to push their way into his apartment.  Sylla advised that several shots were fired into his apartment door a short time later.  Sylla reported that nobody inside the apartment was struck by gunfire.

Officers eventually made contact with Diaw and Brown and negotiated their exit from the apartment.  The officers later secured a search warrant for the apartment and located hundreds of THC vape cartridges, approximately two pounds of marijuana and psychedelic mushrooms, as well as over $13,000.00 in cash.
