(Milan, IN) – Extra law enforcement will be present at Milan Schools today after a threat was made toward one of the schools in the corporation.
In a letter to parents and guardians, Superintendent Pat Murphy writes the situation has been addressed and the student who threatened violence has been removed from the school.
“We are working with local law enforcement regarding this matter and have requested that additional law enforcement be present at school to ensure the safety of all students and staff,” Murphy said. “We take all threats seriously and are working closely with local authorities to maintain a safe environment for everyone. Please know that you child’s safety is our top priority and they are safe to attend school tomorrow.”
Murphy is praising Milan students and staff for their prompt reporting of the issue.
“Thank you for taking this threat seriously and responding appropriately and in a timely fashion,” Murphy added.
The school corporation did not say which building received the threat.
