Thelma Maxine (Campbell) Meece, 85

Thelma Maxine Campbell Meece, 85, of Greensburg passed away January 12, 2025. She was born on January 21, 1939 in Forest Hill, Indiana the daughter of Forrest and Artunis Giddings Campbell. Thelma was a 1957 graduate of St Paul High School. She married David Junior Meece and together they had five children. Thelma worked in many factories then later as a Nurse Aide for over 25 years at Decatur County Hospital. She was a member of the First Church of God. Thelma spent her time reading, working on crochet pieces, completing crossword puzzles, relaxing on her back porch, and doing puzzles with her daughter Missy.
Survivors Include: children, Tony (Jennifer) Meece, Peggy Fenske, Charles (Jodie Mae) Meece, Missy (Troy) Whipker; and daughter-in-law Julie Meece. Thelma is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Rickie Alan Meece; grandson, Matthew “Bubba” Meece; and siblings, Lillie Gibson, Clara Smith, Clifford, Fredrick and Norman Campbell.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at 11:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 pm. Pastor Janet Hodson and Chaplain Mark Scott will be officiating. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to American Cancer Society or to donor’s choice.
