DEARBORN COUNTY, IN — A group of local volunteers has launched a new non-profit organization titled The Community Project. The volunteers, Kevin Wang (Lawrenceburg), Rachel Reynolds (Greendale), Ken Maddin (Aurora), Logan Carr (Greendale), and Andrea Ewan (Aurora), saw an opportunity to form an organization that will be
bringing awareness to the current and ongoing needs of both the residents and other existing non-profits, as well as offering resources to Southeastern Indiana.

“Engaging with local community partners and streamlining efforts will create a bigger impact for the residents who need it the most, as well as provide an opportunity for volunteers to get involved,” said Carr. He adds, at The Community Project, “we can all lend a hand in this initiative.”

The Community Project plans to benefit the community in the following areas:

• Two existing successful events that formerly did not have a non-profit umbrella will be supported – Feeding Those in Need (Thanksgiving Event) and Christmas with Friends.
• Providing assistance and supplies to those who are homeless in partnership with the group that created the Community Blessing Boxes.
• Advocating for local populations who are underrepresented.
• Sharing volunteer opportunities with local non-profits to community members in a centralized location.
• Identifying community needs that can be addressed by facilitation between existing community organizations, and bringing those organizations and volunteers together for a common goal.
