Franklin County, IN — Reckless driving charges have been filed against a Connersville teen accused of going way above the speed limit on Fairfield Causeway Road.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were patrolling Monday morning when they spotted a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed.

Radar confirmed the vehicle was going over 100 mph in a 45 mph zone.

Deputies pulled the vehicle over and ticketed 18-year-old Elisha Dale Steele on the Reckless Driving charge, which is a Class C misdemeanor.

After further investigation, deputies determined Steele’s red 1995 Ford Probe (pictured) matched the description of one mentioned in several recent complaints called into the Sheriff’s Office.

Witnesses reported seeing a vehicle matching the description on Fairfield Causeway Road going at a high rate of speed about the same time.

Deputies say anyone who wishes to report reckless and/or impaired driving is encouraged to call 9-1-1.

If possible, they ask that callers get a vehicle description, license plate number, the direction of travel, and describe the driving behavior.

Steele is awaiting his initial hearing.

If convicted, he faces up to 60 days in jail, a maximum $500 fine, and have his driving privileges suspended for up to 90 days.
