(Greensburg, IN) – The Greensburg School Board gave final approval this week to the 2024-25 contract with the Greensburg Teachers Association and the 2025 budget.
“I don’t really see any changes in any of the tax rates,” said Superintendent Tom Hunter. “If anything, they may decrease a little from last year in the overall budget.”
The spending plan received the okay previously from Greensburg City Council and is on its way to the state’s Department of Local Government Finance, or DLGF, for final approval.
Highlights of the teachers’ contract are a $1,000 raise for staff, free admission to all school events and no increase in health insurance costs.
The school board also approved the building, liability and workers comp policy with Liberty Mutual Insurance Company and the health insurance plan with Dunn and Associates.
“It’s always about money, which it should be. We all need to be able to put food on the table and that’s what we hope we can do every year with our staff which is to help in that capacity,” Hunter said.
He adds enrollment is down this year at Greensburg schools.
They’re at 1,929 students which is down 68 from last year. He says that’s a significant drop and the lowest number the district has had in several decades.
Hunter says they’ll monitor the situation closely heading into next year and make the necessary adjustments.
