Teacher pay, insurance contribution increases approved by SR School Board

South Ripley Schools Superintendent Rob Moorhead

VERSAILLES, IN — The South Ripley School Board this week acted on compensation increases, which are part of the recently-approved two-year collective bargaining agreement between the corporation and the South Ripley Classroom Teachers Association.

“In this first year, returning teachers are receiving a $3,500 increase,” said Superintendent Rob Moorhead. “In the second year of the contract, they will receive a $2,500 increase on top of that, plus a $500 stipend.”

Moorhead says the school corporation is offering a $40,000 starting salary for first-year teachers, and the corporation has increased its contribution to the teachers’ insurance plan.

“Those are some significant dollars we’re investing in our teachers, and I applaud our school board for wanting to do that, and I applaud our teachers for the job they have been doing,” Moorhead added.
