Taco seasoning mix recalled for possible salmonella

Nationwide—Taco seasoning sold at Walmart has been recalled over potential salmonella contamination. Great Value Mild Taco Seasoning Mix has been recalled, according to the FDA.

The item supplied by Mincing Spice Co. issued a recall for some of its cumin that was potentially contaminated. A portion of that was supplied by Williams Foods, LLC, which distributes the taco seasoning.

The specific lots of taco seasoning are listed below:

  • GV Mild Taco Seasoning, Item #564829444; 1 oz. package; UPC #0 78742 24572 0; Best if used by 07/08/21 and 07/09/21

The product was sold in all states except for Alaska, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington.

People who get salmonella poisoning have symptoms such as diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps between 12 and 72 hours after getting infected.
