JACKSON COUNTY – A 22-year-old man suspected of robbing two banks last week in Jackson County is behind bars in a Cincinnati jail Thursday.
Last Thursday,banks in Seymour and Crothersville were robbed one hour apart and authorities launched a search for the suspect.
Investigators believe the suspect to be Evan Stewart, 22, of Shelbyville, who was arrested yesterday in Forest Park, Ohio.
Stewart is accused of bank robberies that occurred in Forest Park and Clifton in late July, he is also the suspect in a pair of bank robberies in Louisville, Kentucky, and the two bank thefts that occurred in Jackson County last week.
Police say formal charges of robbery are expected to be filed this week or next.
Indiana State Police Detective Roger Drew commented, “The cooperation and sharing of information between the Indiana State Police, Seymour Police Department, the FBI and other law enforcement agencies in Ohio and Kentucky along with the tips investigators received from the public were key to solving these robberies.”
