Susan Ellen Reasoner, 90

Susan Ellen Reasoner, 90, of Greensburg, passed away on December 21, 2020.  She was born March 9, 1930, in Detroit, Michigan.  She was the daughter of Mack L. and Beulah V. Anderson.  She married George Reasoner, Jr., on May 22, 1949.  He preceded her in death on January 13, 1999.

She graduated from Burney High School in 1947.  She attended Indiana Business College in Columbus, Indiana.  Mrs. Reasoner was a member of the Waynesburg Christian Church and later attended the First Christian Church in Greensburg.

Upon graduation, she worked in the Accounts Receivable Department of Arvin Industries in Columbus, Indiana.  She worked at Mitchell Industries in Greensburg for nine years until the office was closed.  She went to work at Delta Faucet Company as a secretary and was later promoted to the senior buyer position.  She was an employee of Delta Faucet for twenty-six years, retiring in 1996.  She was a member of the Purchasing Management Association of Indianapolis.

Mrs. Reasoner’s free time was spent as a member of the former Clay Township Home Demonstration Club and then the Kitchen Kookies Home Demonstration Club. Watching her grandchildren as they participated in cheerleading, basketball, baseball, volleyball, and track, was a constant source of joy.

She was involved in various volunteer activities.  She enjoyed her role as an active volunteer for Decatur County Memorial Hospital, as well as being a volunteer and case manager for Big Brothers / Big Sisters at South Decatur Elementary School.  Being an English language mentor to a Japanese lady brought her great satisfaction, as well as a cherished friend.

Survivors include two daughters, Denise (Dale) Bates of Avon, Indiana and Cynthia Navarra of Greensburg, Indiana; three grandchildren, Jeff (Jennifer) Hamilton of Hebron, Kentucky, Jennifer (Ryan) Preston of Columbus, Indiana and Alison (Kory Bickel) Bates of Avon, Indiana; two step-grandchildren, Cheri (Mike) Rife of Indianapolis, Indiana and Cameron (Natalie) Navarra of Indianapolis, Indiana; six great-grandchildren, Cayla, Landen and Anna Hamilton, Zoe and Elise Preston, Braden Bickel; two brothers Bill (Pat) Anderson, Greensburg, Indiana, and Dale (Kim) Anderson of Canton, Ohio.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Preceding her in death were her parents, three brothers, Vernon Hooper, Robert Hooper, and James N. Anderson; one sister, Betty Whayne; son-in-law, John Navarra; and one step grandchild, Chad Navarra.

There will be a private Funeral Service for the family. In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask any donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and Greensburg, Indiana’s Shop with a Cop Program.
