Stimulus check is on it’s way

The Federal Government began issuing the one-time stimulus payments this week. Most adults will see a $1,200 check, while most married couples can expect to get $2,400, and parents will get payments of $500 per child. The checks will be directly deposited into bank accounts or mailed to households, depending on how you’ve filed your tax returns in the past. If you have not filed your taxes in the past, your check will be sent in the mail.

Congressman Greg Pence says this money will not have to be paid back on your 2020 taxes.  The confusion seems to be from the language in the CARE act that refers to the checks as an “advance refund” because the money is being given out in the 2020 tax year before Americans have even filed their tax returns for the year.
