Stella ‘Pat’ Flora Westerfeld

Stella ‘Pat’ Flora Westerfeld, age 98 of Batesville, Indiana passed away Thursday, February 22, 2018 at St. Andrews Health Campus in Batesville.

The daughter of William and Amelia (nee: Siebert) Goyert was born on January 18, 1920 in Batesville. The 1938 Batesville High School graduate married her sweetheart, Howard Westerfeld on November 29, 1941. They celebrated 62 years of marriage before he passed away in 2004.

Pat, as most of her family and friends knew her by, worked for the Herald Tribune for several years and worked as a Nurses Aid for some time.  She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church Crossroads, where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir.  She was also part of the Ladies Aid at church, Lutheran Church Women, and a member of the Hobby Nobby Club.

Mostly, Pat was a very good homemaker, wife, mom and grandma.  She was a terrific baker and usually did her baking on Saturday mornings.  She and Howard had a big vegetable garden, so she spent a lot of time canning their harvest.  Pat was also a seamstress and sewed a lot of her kid’s clothes over the years. She and her husband loved going to Florida and spending the winters there later in life.  They liked traveling together, everywhere from the east to the west coast. Grandma Pat also did a lot of babysitting over the years for her grandchildren, something she really enjoyed.

She will be dearly missed by her two daughters, Sharyn Cobler and Mary Anne (Snork) Walsman; four sons Dave (Janet) Westerfeld, Dan Westerfeld, James (Melissa) Westerfeld and Rick Westerfeld; fourteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and one on the way.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Lorena Narwold, Mildred Ahrens, Martha Firsich, Norma Goyert, Cordelia Drockelman, Howard Goyert and Paul Goyert.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 24, 2018 from 10AM-12:30PM at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville.  Funeral Service will follow at 1:00PM on Saturday, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Crossroads in Batesville.  Paster Creighton P. Leptak officiating.  Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Batesville.
