State Top 10 Twisters Get Win Over NE Knights

The Oldenburg Academy played the Northeastern Knights on Monday, April 26th. This was the first-ever meeting between the two Baseball programs, and the Twisters won 13-3 in 6 innings.

The Twisters wasted no time getting the lead as they scored 3 in the first. Sr. Andrew Oesterling started the game off with a double, Soph. Trevor Moizuk sacrificed him to third base and Soph. Charlie Schebler hit a deep sacrifice fly to get him in for the Twisters first run of the game. Seniors Chris Hautman and Patrick Thompson also came around to score in the first. The Twisters added 1 run in the 3rd, 4 in the 4th, and 5 in the 6th. The 5th run in the 6th ended the ball game as the Twisters took the game on the 10 run rule. The Twisters were led at the plate by Sr. Riley Schebler who went 3 for 3 – 3 singles, 3 RBIs, and a stolen base. Oesterling played long ball for the second time this year as he went 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs. On the mound, Oesterling was very effective and efficient as he faced 24 batters giving up 6 hits, 3 runs (2 earned), walking 1, and striking out 5.

After the game, Coach Behlmer had this to say, “We are playing at a very high level and we need to continue to play like this to reach our ultimate goal. Andrew did a great job on the mound and at the plate. Our coaching staff feels very good about our offense and the different ways we’ve been able to push runs across.”

The Twisters have back-to-back games coming up as they recently scheduled to travel to North Decatur on Thursday, April 29th for a 5:00 first pitch. Then travel to Franklin County who enters this week ranked #9 in 3A. That game will begin at 5:30 PM.
