The St. Louis 8th Grade Boys Basketball team battled hard Thursday night but came up just short against Batesville, losing a closely contested game 40-35.
The Bulldogs came out firing, taking a commanding 15-4 lead after the first quarter. The Cardinals fought back, cutting the deficit to 23-13 by halftime. The third quarter saw both teams trading baskets, with Batesville holding a 32-22 advantage heading into the final period.
In the fourth quarter, the Cardinals mounted an impressive comeback, closing the gap to just two points at 37-35. Despite their valiant effort, they were unable to complete the upset.
Luke Richardson led the Cardinals with 16 points, while Ryan McGuire added 14. Cam Anderson contributed 5 points to the effort.
The Cardinals’ record now stands at 1-1 for the season as they look ahead to their next game.
