The St. Louis 8th Grade Lady Cardinals earned a hard-fought 39-24 victory over South Dearborn. The 1st quarter was a back-and-forth affair as both teams came out pressing and St. Louis would trail 7-6 after the first quarter.
The 2nd quarter was much of the same, except South Dearborn went on a run to take a 17-11 lead before St. Louis fought back and tied it at halftime 17-17.
The Lady Cardinals used the momentum from the end of the half to go on their own 11-2 run out of halftime to take a 28-19 3rd quarter lead.
They kept it going in the 4th to help them earn the win.
The Lady Cardinals were led in scoring by Aubrey baker with 16 points. Belle Young had 8 points, Gina Grote had 7 points, Ava Becker and Maggie Tekulve had 3 points, and Olivia Leising had 2 points.
On Monday night, three 8th Graders who have played all 4 years at St. Louis will be honored between the 7th and 8th grade games. The 7th grade game begins at 6 pm.
