The St. Louis 8th Grade Lady Cardinals played their final home game of the year in front of a large St. Louis crowd on Monday night. Before the game, three 8th grade girls were honored for playing all four
years: Belle Young, Gina Grote, and Olivia Leising.
The Lady Cardinals came out, firing on all cylinders, as they used their press to convert on easy baskets. Belle Young and Gina Grote got the scoring going scoring 4 points each on the way to a 10-2 1st quarter lead.
The defense picked up in the 2nd quarter, but the Lady Cardinals extended their lead to 14-4 at halftime.
Gina Grote and Olivia Leising led the charge in the 3rd quarter as Gina scored 4 points and Olivia had 2 points. St. Louis extended their lead to 22-10.
The three 8th graders put the game away as Belle and Olivia each added a basket, and Gina Grote hit a 3-pointer to seal the 31-14 win.
