The St. Louis Girls 8th Grade Lady Cardinals defeated South Ripley 32-26 in a tough hard fought battle. The first quarter opened up as a back-and-forth affair as both teams traded the lead. South Ripley hit two 3-pointers to take a 10-9 lead. The second quarter saw the Lady Cardinals pick up the defense and get hot from the outside. The Lady Cardinals took a 22-16 lead into halftime. The third quarter belonged to Gina Grote as she scored all 6 of the Lady Cardinals’ points in the quarter and carried the Cardinal defense. The fourth quarter was a defensive struggle as both teams were exhausted. Gina Grote led the way for the Lady Cardinals with 12 points. Aubrey Baker scored 10 points. Belle Young had 8 points and Ava Becker scored 2.
