Saturday the 8th grade St. Louis Cardinals went to OA to play in their OA Classic.
In game one the boys played St. Michael’s and won with a final score or 45-18. Scoring for St. Louis were Adam Weber with 14pts, Sam Dice with 12pts, Cayden Lieland and David Koch both bringing 7pts, Carson Hartwell and Kaden Maple bringing 2pts, and Caleb Harmeyer with 1pt. Augir Hillenbrand and Ayden Meyer both had some great looks and played a great game. These gentlemen brought great press to gain a lead in the first half. We dropped back and worked the ball to get open shots for all. They played a great game.
Game two which was the championship game was played against St. Mary’s Greensburg. The boys lost to them in the season and were looking for a win which they snagged with a final score of 45-37. We knew hustle would win this game, and they held strong all game. We shut down their outside shots and were able to rebound the ball. Pressing again to cause some chaos for some quick points. Scoring for SLS was Adam Weber with 14pts, David Koch with 9pts, Sam Dice with 8pts, Augie Hillenbrand with 6pts, Caleb Harmeyer and Cayden Lieland both bringing 4pts.
I am proud of this team for working so hard in both games and having a new coach to work with. Having only a walk this is impressive to see their leadership on the court make these wins happen!
