St. Louis 7th & 8th Grade Girls Basketball vs. Franklin County

On Monday night, the St. Louis 7th Grade Lady Cardinals defeated Franklin County 17 to 16 in a thrilling game.

The first quarter saw the Lady Cardinals jump out to a 5-2 1st quarter lead. The second quarter was again a back-and-forth affair as SLS used defense to get some easy layups and take an 11-7 halftime lead. It was all Franklin County in the 3rd quarter as they went on a 7-0 run to take a 14-11 3rd quarter lead. In the final quarter, SLS used the press to get back into the game. And with 30 seconds left, Ava Becker stole the ball to put the Lady Cardinals up for good.

The Lady Cardinals had a balanced scoring attack as Sophia Leising, Ava Becker, Aubrey Baker, and Grace Copley all had 4 points each. Mary Kara Wanstrath added 1 point.

In the 8th grade game, the St. Louis Lady Cardinals suffered a 30-17 defeat to Franklin County. The Lady Cardinals couldn’t seem to find any rhythm to the game. SLS was led in scoring by Olivia Leising with 10 points. Also scoring for the Lady Cardinals were Ava Becker with 4 points, Gina Grote with 2 points, and Mary Kara Wanstrath with 1 point.
