Sr. Lucy Driscoll, age 86 of the Sisters of St. Francis in Oldenburg, Indiana, died on January 25, 2024 at the Motherhouse in Oldenburg, Indiana. Born on July 5, 1937, in Carthage, Ohio, she was the seventh of eight children born to John and Henrietta (nee: Kuderer) Driscoll. Her father worked for the railroad and her mother was a housewife.

Sr. Lucy attended Our Lady of Angels High School, and after only one year there she made her decision to become a Franciscan Sister and applied for admission to the Immaculate Conception Juniorate at Oldenburg. On February 2, 1955, she became a postulant of the Franciscan Sisters at Oldenburg. She then attended Marian College and went on to receive her master’s degree from Marygrove College (Detroit, MI).

The first 12 years of Sister Lucy’s apostolic work were devoted to teaching primary grades among several schools in Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, and Missouri. In 1970 she was sent to St. Athanasius parish in Roseville, Michigan. Sr. Lucy began a variety of ministries in this parish. Her fun-loving, outgoing personality and generous nature made her successful in working with teens. She also co-coordinated Vacation Bible School for several summers. While there, she participated in several sports, including bike riding, swimming, softball, and volleyball when her apostolic commitments allowed it. She then spent 25 years as a teacher at St. Hugo School in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan
