SR Baseball Blanks Shawe Memorial

Two South Ripley pitchers combined on a four-hit shutout to defeat Shawe Memorial 7-0 on Tuesday.

Bode Block tossed 6 2/3 innings, gave up four hits, struck out five Hilltoppers and walked four on 117 pitches to notch the win.

Shawn Riehle induced a groundout for the game’s final out.

The Raiders scored five runs in the 4th inning. Gabe Stone singled to plate one run, while Ethan Schmaltz’s ground out and an error on the play brought home two more.

South Ripley tallied 10 hits in the game. Stone, Schmaltz and Austin Hodge collected two hits a piece.

Schmaltz, Stone, Brogan Buchanan, and Kartter Murray each drove in a run for the Raiders, and Riehle stole two bases.

Defensively, Ripley turned two double plays in the game.

Brogan Johnson went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Shawe Memorial at the dish.

The Hilltoppers defense turned one double play.

The Raiders will travel to Rushville for their next game on Saturday.
