DEARBORN COUNTY, In. Indiana Department of Transportation officials have announced plans to begin clearing operations for a bridge project on Cold Springs Road over Whitaker Creek in Sparta Township in February. Bridge removal and replacement operations are set to begin in April.
The $1,5035,885 contract includes removing the existing bridge about three miles north of U.S. Highway 50 and replace it with a 3-span concrete I-beam bridge. Patriot-based McAlister Excavating will complete the work for the state of Indiana.
The Federal Highway Administration will pay for 80 percent of the cost, Dearborn County will pay 20 percent of the project cost.
