Oldenburg Academy boys soccer knocked off South Ripley 4-1 in Versailles. The Twisters’ Connor Holder recorded his fourth consecutive hat trick. Damien Brelege also found the back of the net for OA, which has won five straight. Shawn Riehle netted the Raiders’ lone tally. The Oldenburg defense limited Ripley to five shots on goal. Twister goalkeeper Ryan Hautman recorded three saves.
Batesville girls soccer shut out Lawrenceburg 4-nil. Addie Reding scored twice for the Bulldogs. Lawrenceburg took the JV match 3-nil.
Batesville girls golf claimed the Ripley County Tournament at North Branch Golf Course. The Bulldogs carded at 153; Jac-Cen-Del 200, and South Ripley as a team fired a 219. Batesville senior Alexis Gallagher shot a 36 individually and was named MVP.
Batesville boys tennis won 5-0 at Franklin County. The Bulldogs improve to 10-2 overall and 3-1 in the EIAC.
In middle school cross country, Batesville hosted a three-way meet with Connersville and Rushville. The Bulldogs won both races. It was BMS with a perfect 15 in the girls race. Connersville had 50. In the boys race, Batesville got past Connersville 28-31. Rushville finished with 84.
Batesville Middle School volleyball swept host North Decatur. It was the Bulldogs winning the 7th grade match in two sets, 25-12, 25-10; the BMS 8th graders also won in two sets, 25-7, 25-17. Both Batesville teams are now 6-1.
The Los Angeles Dodgers got past the Cincinnati Reds 3-2 on the West Coast in a game heard late last night on WRBI. The Reds’ offensive highlight came when Elly De La Cruz smashed a 444-foot home run to leftfield off Tarik Skubal in the 3rd inning that scored Dane Myers. He has now homered in four consecutive games and has 25 on the season. Defensively in the bottom of the 3rd, De La Cruz took a relay from leftfielder JJ Bleday and rifled a strike to catcher Jose Trevino to cut down Teoscar Hernandez at the plate. Reds starter Nick Lodolo was tagged with the loss after giving up three earned runs, five hits, three walks while striking out six in 4 2/3 innings. The Reds will try to avoid the series sweep tonight. Rhett Lowder (6-9, 5.43 ERA) will make the start for Cincinnati. Coverage begins at 9:40 on 103.9 FM.
The 2026 NFL season kicks off tonight with a Super Bowl LX (60) rematch. The New England Patriots visit the defending champion Seattle Seahawks. Kickoff in the Pacific Northwest is at 8:20.
