Oldenburg Academy boys soccer doubled up Greensburg 4-2 at The Graveyard on Thursday. It is the Pirates’ first loss of the season. Connor Holder scored all four of the Twisters’ goals. It’s his third hat trick this season. Ryan Hautman recorded five saves for OA. Jacoby Miller scored both of Greensburg’s goals.
Batesville girls soccer rallied from a 2-nil deficit and scored three unanswered goals to edge Switzerland County 3-2. Sydney Britton, Kenzi Lacey and Hailee Weisenbach found the back of the net for the Bulldogs.
Batesville took two from Jac-Cen-Del in middle school volleyball. It was the Bulldog 7th graders over the Eagles in two sets (25-17, 25-13). Batesville took the 8th grade contest in three sets (25-21 [JCD], 25-11 [BMS}, 15-6 [BMS]).

The Reds open a three-game series tonight against the Milwaukee Brewers in downtown Cincinnati. Rhett Lowder (6-8, 5.14 ERA) starts for the Reds. First pitch is at 6:10.
Reds All Star infielder Sal Stewart is the National League Rookie of the Month for August. Stewart earned his second award after previously winning in March/April. The 22-year-old hit .304 with eight home runs, 21 RBIs, two doubles, seven walks and 21 runs scored in 29 games.
Indianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steichen has named Anthony Richardson the team’s backup quarterback for the 2026 season. Richardson finished the preseason 21 of 33 passing for 249 yards. He and Riley Leonard saw the majority of the snaps during the preseason in the competition to back up starter Daniel Jones. Leonard will be the Colts third-string QB.
The college football season shifts into high gear this weekend. Purdue opens at home tonight against Indiana State. Kickoff in West Lafayette is at 7:00.
