Oldenburg Academy boys soccer blanked Connersville 2-nil at the Graveyard on Thursday. Connor Holder and Adam Weber both found the back of the net for the Twisters. The Spartans were held to nine shots by the OA defense. Twister goalkeeper Ryan Hautman recorded three saves. OA improves to 11-3.
Batesville girls soccer lost at Columbus North 1-nil.
In boys tennis, it was Batesville over Southwestern 5-0 in Hanover. The Bulldogs end the regular season at 15-5. The JV match ended in a 1-1 tie.
Batesville Middle School volleyball swept Connersville. The Bulldog 7th graders won in three sets (25-24-C, 25-17-B, 25-8-B), while BMS 8th grade took it in two sets (25-14, 25-23).
Batesville Middle School cross country won both ends of a tri-meet with Rising Sun and St. Lawrence at the Ohio County Fairgrounds. It was the Bulldog girls 21, the Panthers 43 and the host Shiners 71. BMS came out on top in the boys race with 23 points, followed by St. Lawrence with 53 and Rising Sun 58.

The Cincinnati Reds nipped the Atlanta Braves 7-6 in a game heard last night on WRBI. With the win, the Reds claim the three-game road series over the NL East champs. Elly De La Cruz hit his 30th home run of the season, and Carlos Jorge smacked his first career Major League longball to lead off the game. The Reds open the final series of 2026 tonight when they visit the Toronto Blue Jays. Nick Lodolo (3-6, 5.04 ERA) makes the start for Cincinnati. First pitch is at 7:07.
The Minnesota Lynx cooled off the Indiana Fever 86-66 in the WNBA regular season finale last night in Minneapolis. The Fever heads into the playoffs with a 28-16 record, and will be the sixth seed. They begin the postseason at Las Vegas on Sunday.
In college football, fifth-ranked Indiana opens Big Ten play at home tonight against Northwestern. Kickoff in Bloomington is at 8.
