Oldenburg Academy boys soccer rolled to a 9-nil win over Knightstown on Senior Night at the Graveyard. Senior Connor Holder set a new school record with a five goals in a single game. The Twisters are now 10-3.
Waldron topped Batesville in varsity and JV tennis. It was the Mohawks over the Bulldogs 4-1 in varsity play, and 4-0 in JV action. The BHS varsity team falls to 13-5.
Batesville Middle School volleyball split with Jennings County. The Bulldogs won the 7th grade contest in two sets (25-21, 25-21), while the Panthers claimed the 8th grade match in three sets (25-22-JC, 25-15-B, 15-10-JC). BMS 7th grade is now 12-1 while the 8th grade team drops to 10-3.
Batesville Middle School cross country won both the boys and girls meets at home over North and South Decatur. It was the Bulldog girls 21; the Chargers 44, and the Cougars 66. Batesville’s Emmalynn Allgeier was the girls meet champion…The BMS boys were first with 19; South Decatur had 44, and North Decatur was incomplete. Cristian Peralta from Batesville was the boys meet champ.
The Cincinnati Reds blanked the National League Eastern Division champion Atlanta Braves 4-0 down South in a game heard last night on WRBI. Elly De La Cruz hit two home runs, and Eugenio Suarez added another longball for the 350th of his career. Brandon Williamson and three relievers combined on the shutout. Williamson went six innings, and gave up three hits with two strike outs and no walks. He’s now 5-4. A pair of former All-Star lefthanders will go at it in the game two starting pitching matchup tonight. The Indianapolis Colts have signed wide receiver Darius Slayton. The seven-year veteran has played his entire career with the New York Giants. Slayton was signed to add depth to the Colts’ receiving corps. Alec Pierce sustained a heel injury in the team’s loss at Kansas City Sunday night and his status for this week and beyond is up in the air.
