Batesville girls golf defeated host East Central 171-204 at Hidden Valley Golf Course on Thursday. Bulldog senior Alexis Gallagher was medalist with a two-under-34.
Greensburg boys tennis knocked off Batesville. The Pirates claimed the varsity match 4-1 and the JV contest 2-1.
Batesville girls soccer won two over Shelbyville by identical 4-nil scores. In the varsity match, Elia Wade scored two goals and had an assist. Brynlie Oesterling and Macey Benjamin split time in goal and recorded the shutout. The JV teams played one half.
Batesville Middle School volleyball swept South Dearborn. It was the Bulldogs over the Knights in the 7th grade match, 25-15, 25-14. In the 8th grade contest. BMS came out on top 25-5, 25-15.
High school baseball field lights around Southeastern Indiana and across the state were lit overnight in memory of Jennings County baseball coach BJ Sigler. He passed away unexpectedly last week at the age of 50. Coach Sigler is being laid to rest today in North Vernon.

The Los Angeles Dodgers hammered the Cincinnati Reds 8-2 in the series finale at Great American Ball Park heard yesterday afternoon on WRBI. With the win, the Dodgers clinch the National League Western Division title for the fifth straight year and 13th in the last 14. They also took three out of four games in the series. Meanwhile, the Reds clinched their 19th losing season in the last 26 years. Sal Stewart and TJ Friedl had two hits yesterday. Stewart clubbed his 32nd home run and drove in his 109th run of the season. The Reds open the final home series of 2026 tonight against the Chicago Cubs. Chase Burns (15-3, 2.80 ERA) makes the start for the Reds. The Cubs will go with Clay Holmes (6-7, 2.85 ERA). First pitch is at 6:40.
