North Decatur quarterback Matthew Field and Milan linebacker JJ Mutz are the Week4 Mid-Indiana Football Conference players of the week on offense and defense, respectively. Field was 7 of 7 passing for 201 yards and five touchdown throws in Chargers’ 80-o obliteration of Brown County. Mutz recorded six solo tackles, four assists, two-and-a-half tackles for loss, one-and-a-half sacks, one pressure, and one pass breakup in the Indians’ 46-3 win at Switzerland County.
Grayson Miller has been hired as South Ripley head baseball coach. That move was approved by the school board this week. Miller has been with the Raider baseball program for a number of years, including time as both the junior high and JV coach, and varsity assistant.
The Reds topped the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-2 in downtown Cincinnati in a game heard last night on WRBI. Elly De La Cruz and Dane Myers hit home runs to power the Reds to the win, which snaps a 10-game losing streak against the Dodgers. De La Cruz blasted a two-run homer in the 3rd inning. It was his 28th longball of the season. Myers added a solo shot in the 5th for his seventh round tripper of the year. The Reds added runs in the 6th and 7th innings. Andrew Abbott and five relievers scattered seven hits, and the Dodgers stranded 12 base runners. The Reds will try to earn a split in the four-game series this afternoon. Brady Singer (6-14, 5.38 ERA) makes the start for Cincinnati. Coverage begins on 103.9 FM following the Noon news block.
2026 NTT IndyCar Series Rookie of the Year Dennis Hauger has signed a multi-year deal with AJ Foyt Racing. The 23-year-old Norwegian joins the team beginning with 2027 season.
